Do

Brooks wrote “Do” on a dare. His wife bet him he couldn’t write a happy song, so he wrote one, then set it in 1960s Japan as an homage to Lewis Carroll.

He grew up in a musical family. Piano at eight, guitar at fourteen, and enough theory to write every part on his own records, strings included. He cuts them at Catamount Recording, his own studio.

His last album, the first under his own name, passed 400,000 streams. He thought it might be the last thing he’d say. Then the dry spell broke and he wrote fifty songs.
